Congress national president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday asked West Bengal Congress to fight solo in Bengal against TMC and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As of now, West Bengal PCC is expected to fight TMC in Bengal. As of now, there is no alliance between TMC and Congress in West Bengal.

Rahul Gandhi has been invited to Kolkata to attend a Mass rally organised by in Fabruary. He is likely to respond with a confirmed date closer to February. The invitation has been extended by Gandhi. 

Yesterday, WBPCC chief Somen Mitra met Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi to discuss the Lok Sabah strategy of Congress in WB.

In a statement, TMC leader and West Bengal minister Subrata Mukherjee rruled out any pre-poll alliance with Congress but kept the door open for gatbandhan or coalition after the polls, saying, the "party would keep all post-poll options open.

Recently, Congress won the assembly election in three big states- Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan and Chattisgarh.
