BIDAR- KARNATAKA: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address party rallies in Humnabad and Bhalki in Bidar district today, Ahead of the May 10th Karnataka Assembly elections.

AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary responsible for Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and KPCC President D K Shivakumar are among the senior Congress figures expected to attend the event.

Currently serving as MLAs and the party's candidates for the Bhalki and Humnabad Assembly seats, respectively, are former minister and KPCC Working President Eshwar Khandre and former minister Rajashekar B Patil. 

The BJP now holds 119 members in the outgoing 224-member house, followed by the Congress with 75 seats and the JD (S) with 28. There are two open seats.

In Karnataka, the only southern state where the BJP is in power, the Congress is attempting to overthrow the saffron party.

While voting for the Karnataka assembly elections would occur on May 10, the results would be tallied on May 13.
Rahul Gandhi had addressed the 'Jai Bharat' rally in Kolar on Sunday in Kolar, the same location from which he made the comment about the Modi surname that led to his criminal defamation conviction and removal from the House of Representatives.
