New Delhi: Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi will address public rallies in Manipur beginning March 1 ahead of the state Assembly elections, according to sources. Rahul Gandhi had previously addressed a mass meeting in Imphal's Hapta Kangjeibung neighbourhood on February 21.

On February 5, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who is also the party's election observer in Manipur, announced a six-party alliance called the "Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA)." On February 5, Ramesh declared the alliance's six political parties.

"The Congress, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Forward Bloc, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), and Janata Dal (Secular) inaugurated the Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA) today with an 18-point Common Agenda," he had stated.

The Assembly elections in Manipur will be held on February 28 and March 5. The results of the election will be announced on March 10.
