On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader is set meet with senior party leaders from Telangana at his residence in New Delhi. According to sources, a discussion on the state's political condition as well as digital membership will likely take place.

State party chairman Revanth Reddy, MPs Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and others from the Telangana Congress would be in attendance. Manickam Tagore, the AICC's Telangana in-charge, will also be present at the meeting.

The party's Telangana unit is enlisting new members ahead of other southern states as Congress works to make its membership drive a success.  The membership drive began on November 1st, with a focus on digital membership in order to better prepare the party for electoral difficulties.

Telangana has around 40 lakh members, Karnataka has 34 lakh, Maharashtra has 15 lakh, Gujarat has 10 lakh, Kerala has 10 lakh, Chhattisgarh has five lakh, Bihar has four lakh, Delhi has three lakh, and Rajasthan has three lakh.  In terms of congressional membership, the southern states appear to have the upper hand. In all states, including the five where assembly elections were held in February-March, party leaders are attempting to expand the 'digital membership' effort.

Congress wants to make sure that those who joined on paper are also included in the digital database. This, the party believes, will aid in better preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.  On March 31, the party's membership campaign is likely to be concluded.
