Bank defamation case: Rahul Gandhi to be produced in Ahmedabad court today

Ahmedabad: Since the embarrassing defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi's troubles are not coming down. Rahul Gandhi will appear before a local court in Ahmedabad on Friday (July 12) after appearing before a Mumbai court in the past. The case is a defamation case relating to the bank and its chairman. Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank and its chairman have filed a petition against Rahul Gandhi.

The Ahmedabad court has ordered Rahul Gandhi to appear before the court in a statement made by him during demonetisation. Earlier, Gandhi appeared before a court in Mumbai last week in a defamation case in the murder of journalist and writer Gauri Lankesh. He blamed the "Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology for killing the journalist.

Rahul Gandhi made a comment on PM Narendra Modi. He had said that "why all thieves" were called Modi, on which a petition was filed by Bihar Deputy CM and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi. On July 6, Rahul appeared before Patna's Adalat. According to Congress leaders, Rahul Gandhi has been booked in 20 cases by RSS and BJP workers in different courts across the country.
