New Delhi: A few minutes after ISRO lost contact with Vikram Lander, while landing on the lunar surface, former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi congratulated the space agency for the spectacular work and said that it is an inspiration for every Indian. Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Congratulations to the ISRO team on the Chandrayaan-2 Moon mission for a great job. Your passion and dedication is an inspiration for every Indian."

Praising the efforts of ISRO team in bringing Vikram closer to the lunar surface, MP Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat said, "Your work will not go in vain. It has laid the foundation for many unmatched and ambitious Indian space missions.". Significantly, the Vikram Lander lost contact with ISRO when it was just 2.1 kilometres away from the landing on the moon's south pole.

The contacts with India's Vikram Lander was lost when it was moving towards the lunar surface in the early hours of Saturday. Chief of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) K. Sivan said that the contact with Vikram Lander broke when it was 2.1 kilometres away from the moon's landing at the south pole.
