WAYANAD: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited his MP office in Kalpetta, Wayanad on Friday after it had been vandalised by SFI activists recently. Gandhi called the incident "irresponsible" and said it was caused by the buffer zone issue. Gandhi arrived at the office with other senior party leaders and assessed the damage while on a three-day visit to his constituency.

Later, he informed reporters that the Left student cadre's actions were "quite a regrettable thing" and that the office represented the Wayanad people. But he made it plain that he does not harbour any resentment or hate toward them and that violence never solves anything.

"You see the notion that violence will solve problems everywhere throughout the nation. Violence also doesn't fix issues... They acted in an irresponsible manner, which is not a nice thing to do. However, he added, "I don't feel angry or hostile towards them.

Last week, an SFI protest march against Rahul Gandhi descended into violence after a group of left-wing activists allegedly broke into and vandalised his office. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan fiercely denounced the incident and threatened to take harsh action against those responsible.

Condemning vehemently "the act of violence" committed by SFI at its top leader's office in Kalpetta in Gandhi's Lok Sabha seat Wayanad, the Congress organised a countrywide protest which turned violent in some regions.
