Lucknow, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled two days before to meet with party workers in Lucknow.

Confusion prevailed over his programme as the UP unit first put out an official release announcing that 5,000 workers, along with Rahul, will undertake a padayatra to meet Governor Ram Naik, and later went into denial mode over the plans.

According to an official statement from the party, the Yatra would be led by Rahul Gandhi and was being undertaken to present a memorandum to the governor highlighting UP's falling development graph since the Congress was ousted from the state 27 years ago.

But after an issue of the statement, the party back rayed and said that a padayatra was never part of the plan.

Suddenly, Rahul's scheduled programme at Ramabai Ambedkar Rally Sthal and the Raj Bhawan in Lucknow on July 29 are 12km apart.

Mishra said a padayatra was never part of the final plan, when it was decided that a Congress delegation should hand over a memorandum to governor on the party's "27 saal UP behaal" theme.

It has been also confirmed by Congress spokesman Satyadev Tripathi that the district administration has denied permission for padayatra of 5,000 Congress workers, led by Rahul Gandhi, who is also an SPG protectee.

On July 29, Rahul will reach the Ramabai Ambedkar Rally Sthal for a workers' meeting in the afternoon.

Tripathi, however, said Rahul will lead the Congress delegation that will meet Governor Naik.

After an interactive session with party workers, he will accompany the state leaders to the Raj Bhawan.
