New Delhi: Indian Railways to exempt its employees from service for poor performers. For this, it has asked the Divisional Offices to prepare a list of employees who have completed 30 years of service in the first quarter of 2020. According to the ministry sources, those who are not fit for service in this category will be offered premature retirement.

The Railway Board has written to all divisional offices on 27th July and asked them to give information by 9th August. This is part of a review from time to time, the source said. According to this, employees who are not working well or who have a disciplinary case against them will be asked to take retirement ahead of time.

The Central Government is very serious in this regard. The Lok Sabha had now said that a review was conducted between 2014-19 in the context of the pre-retirement provision of 1.19 lakh group A and B employees in government departments. According to sources, the Railways employ 13 lakh employees today and the ministry wants to reduce it to 10 lakh by 2020. The Divisional Offices of Railways have also been asked to collect records of mental and physical health, attendance, timeliness of the employees.
