SHIMLA: Rain continues to relentlessly pummel Himachal Pradesh, prompting the Chief Minister to release helpline numbers for assistance.

Himachal rain updates: The picturesque state of Himachal Pradesh has been grappling with landslides and flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall. Numerous roads have been rendered impassable due to the landslides, leaving countless people stranded in their wake. The swelling waters of the Beas River have wreaked havoc, causing landslides and flash floods in various districts, resulting in heartbreaking loss of lives.

As the downpour persists, nearly all districts of Himachal Pradesh remain at the mercy of relentless heavy rains, leading to recurrent landslides and flash floods.

In the wake of incessant rainfall and the subsequent landslides and flash floods in various regions, officials have confirmed the collapse of the Panchvaktra bridge in Mandi.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is predicted in multiple districts of Himachal Pradesh today. The IMD warns, "Moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, is highly likely to persist in the districts of Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Una, Hamirpur, Mandi, and Kullu, occurring in most places. Isolated areas may experience extremely heavy rainfall."

Alarmed by the situation, the Himachal Pradesh (HP) Traffic, Tourist, and Railways Police took to Twitter, issuing a red alert for various parts of the state. In a tweet, they cautioned, "The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for most districts of the state today, indicating a very high risk of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Please refrain from unnecessary travel, steer clear of riverbanks, and areas prone to landslides. Kindly adhere to the instructions provided by the local administration."

Mandi and Solan witness devastating cloud bursts: In a harrowing turn of events, a cloudburst in Solan triggered a landslide in Chewa village, while another cloudburst in Thunag caused flash floods.

Helpline numbers for assistance: CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu earnestly appealed to the public to remain indoors, as a severe rainfall warning has been issued. Also, helpline numbers have been made available for any emergency situations.
