Mumbai: The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in Mumbai as well as several parts of Maharashtra today. In fact, heavy rain warning has been issued in Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha. With this, rain has started in Madhya Maharashtra including Vidarbha, Marathwada since yesterday. Similarly, a yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Nashik, Aurangabad, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Jalna, Buldhana, Washim, Wardha, and Chandrapur districts.

On the other hand, meteorologists say that thundershowers are expected in Vidarbha and adjoining areas of Maharashtra. At the same time, parts of central and eastern India including South Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh are likely to receive rain in the next few days. On the other hand, the IMD has issued a yellow alert to ensure that many parts of Maharashtra receive heavy rain on Wednesday, according to IMD. BMC says the city of Mumbai received 32.5 mm rainfall from 8 am to 2 pm on Wednesday.

The MET department has said that light rain may occur in different areas between 18 and 21 in Delhi.
