On Saturday, the Central Government announced the Padma Awards. Let us know that among the Bollywood celebrities Kangana Ranaut, Ekta Kapoor, Adnan Sami, Karan Johar, Suresh Wadkar and Sarita Joshi will be honored with Padma Shri Award. But in the meantime, politics was started after the award of Adnan Sami was given. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena led by Raj Thackeray has opposed the award of Padma Shri to singer Adnam.

Amey Khopkar, president of MNS's cinema unit, said, 'Adnan Sami is not a real Indian citizen. MNS is of the view that no award should be given to them. We condemn the decision to honor him with the Padma Shri and demand that the decision be withdrawn. Adnan Sami was born in Pakistan. His father Arshad Sami Khan was a Pakistan diplomat while his mother was a resident of Jammu and Kashmir. In 2001, Adnan first came to India on a one-year tourist visa. He had requested for citizenship on humanitarian grounds, which was accepted by the central government.

Adnan Sami was granted Indian citizenship from January 1, 2016, after the expiry of his Pakistani passport on May 26, 2015. Adnan now lives in India. People are constantly congratulating him after the news of meeting Padma Shri. On this happy occasion, Adnan wrote on Twitter, 'The biggest moment for any artist is his government's appreciation and recognition. I express my deep gratitude to the Government of India for being honored with Padma Shri. It has been a musical journey for 34 years.
