Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray on Saturday warned the state government about loudspeakers playing in mosques. On Saturday, MNS chief Raj Thackeray demanded that the loudspeakers of mosques should be switched off. If this does not happen soon, he will play Hanuman Chalisa in a loud voice.

Addressing activists in Mumbai, Raj Thackeray said, "Why are loudspeakers played in mosques with such loud voices? If this is not stopped, Hanuman Chalisa will be played in a louder voice on the speakers outside the mosques.'' Thackeray further said that he is not against the prayer of any particular religion, but he is proud of his religion only. Raj Thackeray's statement comes at a time when Ramzan, considered to be the holiest month of the Muslim religion, is going on.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief also targeted NCP chief Sharad Pawar and accused him of "raising the issue of caste from time to time and dividing the society." Thackeray also took a dig at Maharashtra CM and his cousin Uddhav Thackeray, whose party Shiv Sena had parted ways with the Bharatiya Janata Party over the CM's post in 2019. He said "PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were saying that Devendra Fadnavis is going to be the next CM.'' Thackeray urged PM Narendra Modi to raid mosques in Mumbai's Muslim areas. Raj Thackeray said, "I appeal to Prime Minister Modi to raid madrasas in Muslim slums. Pakistani supporters are living in these huts. The Mumbai Police knows what is happening there, our MLAs are using them for vote-bank, such people don't even have Aadhaar cards, but MLAs are making their Aadhaar cards. In the wake of this, Raj Thackeray also targeted NCP chief Sharad Pawar and accused him of "raising the issue of caste from time to time and dividing the society." Raj Thackeray said Sharad Pawar had formed the NCP in 1999. Since then casteism has increased further in the state. He said That Sharad Pawar has always done politics on the basis of caste and created divisions among the people.
