The Rajasthani government has approved Rs 366.67 crore for the second phase of the Bisalpur-Jaipur Water Supply Project (BWSP), officials said on Monday.

The Bisalpur-Jaipur Water Supply Project has been designed to deliver drinking water from the Bisalpur Dam to Jaipur to cut the city's dependence on its groundwater resources.

According to a government release, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved a request to authorise funding for the project's second phase in the Jaipur district's Jagatpura, Pratap Nagar, Mahal Road, and Kho-Nagorian outskirts.

The region near Jagatpura, Pratap Nagar, and Mahal Road on the outskirts of Jaipur city has received a financial approval of Rs 214.93 crore, it added. The second phase of the project at Kho-Nagorian has also received government approval, amounting to Rs. 151.74 crore.

As per stathe tement, main and distribution pipelines of 91.03 km of ductile iron pipeline and 350.59 km of high-density polyethylene pipeline laying work, and 8 high water reservoirs will also be done in Jagatpura, Pratap Nagar, Mahal Road area.
