In Rajasthan, former Minister Mahipal Maderna passed away on Sunday morning. According to the information received, 69-year-old Maderna was suffering from cancer. According to reports, Mahipal Maderna's name made headlines in the kidnapping and murder case of ANM Bhanwari Devi of Jodhpur district and Maderna was the water resources minister of Rajasthan at that time. He was later removed from his post due to the case. Let me also tell all of you that Maderna had to face ten years in jail in the Bhanwari Devi case and was granted bail by the High Court just a while ago. CM Ashok Gehlot has condoled the passing away of former Minister and senior Congress leader Shri Mahipal Maderna Ji today.

He tweeted: "My deepest condolences on the passing away of Former Minister and senior Congress leader Shri Mahipal Madernaji. I pray to God to give the bereaved families the strength to bear this trauma and to give peace to the departed soul.'' Talking about Mahipal Maderna, he was caught up in the Bhanwari Devi case in September 2011. At that time, he was the Water Resources Minister in the Ashok Gehlot government. However, his CD with Bhanwari Devi later surfaced and he was then removed from the post.

Maderna had been in jail continuously since he was caught up in the case and now after his┬аdeath today, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted his condolences. Let me tell you that Mahipal Maderna was the son of veteran Rajasthan leader Parasram Maderna. He is survived by his wife Leela Maderna and two daughters. His wife is currently the district chief of Jodhpur and one of his daughters Divya is an MLA from Osian.
