Bikaner: From small to large huge idols of Lord Ganesha can be seen all over the country. But in Bikaner, Rajasthan, there is an amazing Ganpati idol, which took 19 years to make. The special thing of this Ganesh idol is also that the sun and moon sit on the forehead of Lord Ganesha in this statue.
Another special thing of this Ganesh idol is to be constructed from the root of the white calotrope tree. It is believed to be the only statue of the country made of white calotrope tree. Ganesh Chaturthi is thronged by devotees at this Ganesh temple in Bikaner. The history of this temple and its idol is quite ancient. This idol was built here a hundred years ago. The priest of the temple said that the construction of this idol took 19 years.
The Ganesh idol of the white calotrope also has a history of 125 years. During the British rule, an English forest officer was treated by a saint named Baba Balak Nath. After which the British officer gave the wood root of calotrope tree as a gift. Baba Balak Nath got the statue constructed with the same wood. Baba Balak Nath handed over this statue to his devotee at the time of his death. Since then this priest family has been worshiping this statue.
