Jaipur: After Rahul Gandhi resigns as The National President of the Congress, the Congress may now get the next party chief soon. Sources said that Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot may be appointed as the national president of the Congress party. The party's working committee has already discussed the matter and Ashok Gehlot has also been asked for his opinion.

According to sources, current Congress President Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairman Sonia Gandhi and party General Secretary Priyanka Vadra have also been in discussions. The next Congress National President, Ashok Gehlot, is likely to be the next national president, but a major update is that Ashok Gehlot will remain the chair of the CM post of Rajasthan. Ashok Gehlot has also expressed his desire to continue working as CM.

On the other hand, there is a big opposition within the party that it will benefit the party. It may be mentioned that SP President Akhilesh Yadav, BSP supremo Mayawati, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee have also served as national president while holding the post of CM. Ashok Gehlot, while holding the CM post, will also get protocols in other states of the country.
