Jaipur: From today, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has started the Indira Rasoi Yojana, starting the 'No one will sleep hungry' campaign. An annual expenditure of Rs 100 crore is expected to be incurred on the scheme. CM Ashok Gehlot launched the scheme through video conference. He has said that Indira Rasoi Yojana is one of the best schemes of the state in which urban poor families will get nutritious food at affordable rates.

This scheme has been started in place of Vasundhara Raje's Annapurna Rasoi Yojana. Today, on the birth anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi, it has been launched with 358 kitchens in 213 urban bodies across the state. In this scheme, arrangements will be made to sit and eat in the kitchen. The mealtime in Indira Rasoi Yojana will be from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm while the evening meal time will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Under this scheme, initially, 300 people will be served food in each corporation area, 150 people in city council and municipality area in the morning and evening.

After coming to power, Gehlot had promised to discontinue the Annapurna kitchen scheme of Vasundhara Raje for Rs 8 and a snack for Rs 5. There was a lot of anger among people about this. According to the government, a target has been set to provide food to 1 lakh 34 thousand people and 4 crores 87 lakh people in the whole year. It will be monitored online and will have to give coupon information on mobile.
