Rajasthan HC summons Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over election row

The election of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been challenged in the High Court of Rajasthan. A petition has been filed in the High Court demanding the cancellation of his election from Sardarpura Assembly seat. The High Court issued summons to the Election Commission, Election Officer, and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot are ordered to appear in the court on 27 September.

The petition filed by Aarti Gautam in Jodhpur Bench of Rajasthan High Court has requested to cancel the election of Gehlot. On this, Justice Vineet Kumar Mathur has directed to issue summons. Petitioner Aarti Gautam has said that her nomination was canceled incorrectly, due to which she could not contest the election.

According to the information received, Aarti Gautam had filed nomination papers as an independent. He alleged that the declaration on the basis of the declaration on which Gehlot won the election was lured. Because of this, the election of Gehlot from Sardarpura constituency should be canceled. In his statement, Dr. PC Jain, counsel for the petitioner, said that notice has been issued to Gehlot and the Returning Officer on the petition of Aarti Gautam. The next hearing in the case will be held on September 27.
