Kota: Organ retrieval centres that have been closed for a long time will now be able to get a new life. After much waiting, the state government has given permission to open 'Organ Retrieval Center' in Medical College Kota. After permission, now the liver, cornea, heart, kidney, etc. organs of the brain dead patient can be removed in Kota and they can be sent to Jaipur or other places through the Green Corridor. This will give a boost to the transplant.

There was a demand for the opening of 'Organ Retrieval Center' in Kota for about 6 years. A Brain Dead Committee was also formed in the Medical College. Due to the negligence of the college administration, its file was in abeyance for 5 years. Last year, after trying to donate the organ of a brain dead patient, the need for it became more. A few months ago, a team from Jaipur inspected the new hospital and took stock of the arrangements and facilities.

Following the team's report, the Gehlot government of the state has given a certificate of registration to Kota Medical College for performing organ/tissue besides eye/cornea recovery under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994 (42 of 1994). This certificate of registration is valid for five years from the date of issue.
