Gehlot government revokes general consent for CBI to probe cases in state

In the midst of the political stir in Rajasthan, confrontation will take place between the state and the central government. The Rajasthan government has issued a notification stating that the CBI will have to take permission from the state government before any investigation. Bharatiya Janata Party has told that the state government is nervous.

The Rajasthan government has issued a notification stating that the Government of India (CBI) will now have to take permission of the state government to investigate any crime under Section 3 of DSPE Act 1946.

According to officials, now the general consent of the state government will not be valid in the crimes. Approval will have to be taken on any cases. The home department of the state government has issued a notification in this regard. Additional Chief Secretary Home Rohit Kumar Singh said that its administrative provisions were already in place which was notified yesterday. It has been told in the notification that prior approval of the Rajasthan government will have to be taken to investigate any crime falling under Section 3 of the Capital Special Police Formation Act (DSPE) 1946.

Gehlot Government fears that the BJP Government Congress at the Center may use the CBI to pressure the MLA. After the raids conducted by the Income Tax Department in Jaipur, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala had said that the Central Government has reactivated the agencies.
