Rajasthan has become the latest state to announce incentives for electric vehicle buyers, joining list of states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi and Telangana and so on. The Electric Vehicles policy is targeted at pushing more sales of electric two-wheelers and electric three-wheelers and has a different incentive structure as compared to other states.
According to the statement by the commissioner, transport department, Mr. Mahendra Soni, it is known that "the new initiative will help boost the sales of EVs thereby decreasing pollution. Also, the permit fee has been waived off on the purchase of EVs."
As per the state government’s Transport Deptt, the government will reimburse State Goods and Service Tax amount on purchase on an Electric Vehicles. Accordingly, A lump sum grant amount will be payable on all-electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, as per their battery capacity and this grant amount is payable on vehicles purchased from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 and registered till March 2022.
The Rajasthan government recently announced a few incentives, including the subsidising of the upfront cost of electric vehicles for early adopters and offering them the reimbursement of the state goods and service tax (SGST) depending upon the battery capacity of the vehicle sold. These incentives are meant to endorse the sale of electric vehicles (two-wheelers and three-wheelers) in Rajasthan and will be part of policy.
