Jaipur: The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won three of the six districts in a major reversal in Rajasthan's district chief elections. Congress had a majority in five districts. Even then, the BJP reversed its last minute and captured the post of district chief in three districts, including the capital Jaipur. The BJP broke two Congress candidates and won the post of Jaipur district chief by one vote.

While the Congress has won jodhpur, Dausa, and Sawai Madhopur seats in the district chief's election, the BJP has managed to make its district chief in Jaipur, Sirohi, and Bharatpur. The saffron party has managed to make its chief in BJP state unit president Satish Punia's assembly constituencies Amer and Jalsu. Coming to the district chief elections, Congress had a majority in five of the six districts, but even then the BJP took over three seats in a major reversal.

Rama Devi Chopra, who won the Zilla Parishad member's election on a Congress ticket, joined the BJP on Monday morning and won the election with the support of the BJP. The Congress lost the district chief's seat despite a majority in Jaipur. Rama Devi got 26 votes, while the BJP had the support of only 24 Zilla Parishad members. The BJP broke 2 Congress members, including Rama Devi, and turned the tide in its fold. Rama defeated Congress candidate Saroj Devi Sharma. Saroj got 24 votes. Jaipur Zilla Parishad has a total of 51 members.
