Jalore: Hundreds of saplings planted by the forest department on the border of Veerawa village of Jalore district of Rajasthan have been uprooted by the contractor of the road under the Bharatmala project. But the responsible officer is innocent. In fact, the Bharatmala Project NH 925 A road is being constructed from the culvert of Gandhav village to Sata village.

The road is covered at many places and sand is needed to level the lane, so the contractor's eyes lie on the ground along the Narmada Canal. Millions of saplings were planted on the banks of the Narmada Canal by the Forest Department, but the contractor started picking up sand. Hundreds of plants were uprooted along with the sand, but the responsible officer is unaware.

When the villagers protested, the contractor categorically stated that we had taken permission from the department, but when asked by the officials of the department, they said that we have not given any permission like lifting sand. This clearly means that the contractor has put the rules on the testament to his own self-interest by throwing dust in the eyes of both the departments.
