Rajasthan reports the highest rape case registered, NCRB gives data

New Delhi: The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a central government agency, released criminal data for 2020 on Wednesday. According to these figures, Rajasthan topped the highest number of rape cases, where 5,310 cases were registered. Second is Uttar Pradesh, where 2,796 rape cases were registered.

According to NCRB data, 3,71,503 cases of crime against women were registered across the country in 2020. This figure has come down compared to 2019. In 2019, 4,05,326 cases were reported. Meanwhile, 28,46 rape cases have been registered across the country in 2020. That is, on an average, 77 rape cases have been registered every day. Although rape cases have registered a decline as compared to 2019, things still have not changed.

Rajasthan had also topped the list of rape cases last year. Rajasthan also recorded the highest number of 5,997 cases in 2019. Up was second and Madhya Pradesh was third. Moreover, NCRB figures show that in 2020, 3,741 cases of rape attempts were registered across the country. Out of these, in 295 cases, the victims were under 18 years of age.
