Maharashtra govt finds two ways to reduce shortage of vaccines

Mumbai: Corona infection is currently growing rapidly. Vaccination has started for people between the ages of 18 and 44 years from 1st May. If we talk about Maharashtra, 17.3 crores of people have been vaccinated so far. But there is a shortage of vaccines and this frequently slows down the vaccination drive here. Due to this, many vaccination centers have to be closed here. Now, to eliminate this shortage, the Government of Maharashtra has thought of two ways. First, in case of low availability of the vaccine, people between the ages of 18 and 44 should be divided into different categories and priority should be given to people between the ages of 35 and 44 years so as to overcome the problem of large crowding at the same time.

The other way is to try to bring the Russian Sputnik vaccine to Maharashtra as soon as possible and end the vaccine shortage crisis. Talking about the recent vaccine shortage crisis, Health Minister Rajesh Tope from Maharashtra said, "So far, 2 lakh 15 thousand 274 people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been given the vaccine. In Maharashtra, a total of 28 lakh 66 thousand people have been given both doses of vaccine. But at present only a few thousand vaccines are left in Maharashtra. In order to address the vaccine crisis, the Centre is being appealed to supply more vaccines to the state, while on the other hand, efforts are on to bring Russia's Sputnik V vaccine to Maharashtra.''

For this, the Government of Maharashtra is trying to get the vaccine in consultation with the Russian Direct Investment Fund. He also said, "9 lakh vaccines were received two days ago for those above 45 years of age. Out of these, 8 lakh vaccines have been eliminated. Now only a few thousand vaccines are left. About four lakh people are yet to have a second dose. The non-supply of vaccines is causing a lot of difficulties. If the vaccine is not available on time, the effect of the first dose will also be reduced.''
