Rajinikanth becomes the one and only south Indian actor to make this Box office record

Rajinikanth starrer Petta receiving the rave response of the audience and doing great at the box-office.  Petta opened to great response, as usual, and in just 19 days of its release, the Rajinikanth starrer has made around Rs 216.95 crore at the worldwide box office.  Considering the response of the audience, it seems to be heading for a Rs 250 crore worldwide haul by the end of its run.

Talking about the Chennai box office, Petta has now became the fourth highest grossing movie of all time beating Vijay's Mersal. The film has so far earned Rs 14.06 crore, while Ajith's Viswasam is close behind with Rs 11.41 crore. And at the US box office, it made a new record for its lead star Rajinikanth. By earning more than $2.5 million at the US box office, Rajinikanth has become the only South Indian star to have four films earning over this figure.

Besides Petta, Rajnikanth’s 2.0 has also wreaked havoc at the worldwide box office, earning Rs 713.50 crore in its run.  S Shankar directorial also features Akshay kumar and Amy jackson in the pivotal role.
