South superstar Rajinikanth has been given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award today. The award for Rajinikanth was announced in April. Though this could not happen due to corona infection at that time, Rajinikanth has received the award today. Rajinikanth's fans were very excited ever since the news came out and now he was finally honoured with the award today. Rajinikanth was given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award by Vice President Vekaya Naidu at the Function of the National Film Award held in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth has dedicated his award to producers, directors, film makers and fans. He is accompanied by his son-in-law Dhanush and daughter Aishwarya at the function. Dhanush has been awarded the Best Actor National Film Award for his film Asuran. Rajinikanth remembered his journey after receiving the award. He talked to the bus conductor about the journey till he became a great actor and thanked his old friends who asked him to join the film industry.

Singer Asha Bhosle, Shankar Mahadevan, actor Mohanlal, Biswajit Chatterjee and filmmaker Subhash Ghai were part of the jury. All of them together selected Rajinikanth for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year. At the National Award function, actor Biswajit Chatterjee said that 'he chose Rajinikanth for the honour because he is a "talented" person and is very "down to earth".
