Rajinikanth latest release Petta has already grossed more than Rs 250 crore at the worldwide box office and is still going strong. Along with doing some big budget and high on content films, Petta was Rajinikanth's return to the mass action genre for which people admire him. What makes the blockbuster success of Petta even better is that it faced tough competition from Ajith starrer Viswasam, which has become the highest grossing film of his career.

Expectedly before 40 days Petta, Rajinikanth's 2.0 released which has so far grossed a whopping Rs 713 crore at the worldwide box office. The movie is set to release in China, so expect some more business coming its way. And almost 5 months before the release of 2.0, Rajinikanth's Kaala had released which received positive reviews but failed to set the cash register ringing when one compares it to his other films. Nevertheless, Kaala made around Rs 150 crore at the worldwide box office.
