Rajkot, On Thursday, In a tragic incident, van rammed a tree on the city's outskirts due to which five persons, including a woman, were killed and six others injured.

Gondal taluka's police sub-inspector A L Mehta said, "Around 15 people were travelling in the van, which collided with a tree today on Rajkot-Gondal national highway after the driver lost control over the vehicle".

"Three persons were killed on the spot while two others, who were first admitted to Gondal hospital and then referred to Rajkot civil hospital, were declared dead on arrival," he added.

Geeta Shyamsinh, Sandip Brahman and Balsinh are the three deceased.

Efforts are on to identify the two other deceased, Mehta said.
