Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in India's Modi government says that he prays for the early release from the custody of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Umar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. He hoped that the two leaders would help restore normalcy in Kashmir. He gave these things to a news agency somewhere during the interview. More than a dozen politicians, including three chief ministers of the state - Farooq Abdullah of the National Conference, his son Umar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti of the Peoples Democratic Party have been placed under preventive detention. Defending the government's decision, the Defense Minister said that some decisions were taken keeping in mind the interest of Kashmir. Everyone should welcome it. Singh said, "I pray for the release from the detention of Abdullah and Mufti. The Union Minister further said, "I also pray that once they come out, they should work and contribute towards improving the situation in Kashmir."
