His remark came at a time when victims from all walks of the society are coming forward to call out the accused who have sexually molested them in the earlier period. Journalist-turned-politician MJ Akbar of his party also had to leave as the Minister of State for External Affairs over allegations of sexual harassment levelled by more than 10 women against him.

Reports suggested that the Centre has constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) to look at the existing legal and institutional frameworks for big business with such matters. It will be chaired by the Home Minister including Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and Maneka Sanjay Gandhi.

In a new development former BJP Union minister Jaswant Singh’s son Manvendra Singh and former Maharashtra BJP MLA Ashish Deshmukh joined the Congress. Singh, an MLA left the BJP in September while Deshmukh had resigned as an MLA earlier in October citing 'Rafale scam' as the grounds.
