Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised Indian soldiers as embodiments of the essence of Yoga and Yogi during his address in Mathura on Friday. Joining troops at Mathura Cantonment, Singh participated in yoga exercises alongside Army Chief Manoj Pande and other senior officers to mark the International Day of Yoga.
Singh highlighted the soldiers' exceptional qualities, stating, "An Indian soldier embodies all the traits of Yoga and Yogi that are universally recognized. The physical and mental strength of our soldiers has been demonstrated globally." He emphasized their dedication not only in defending borders but also in assisting during domestic crises, showcasing their unwavering focus and commitment.
"The restraint shown by Indian soldiers in challenging situations reflects their identity as Yogis. Simultaneously, their resolute defense of India's integrity and sovereignty underscores their unique role," Singh remarked. He reiterated India's stance against expansionist policies while emphasizing its capability to respond robustly if its sovereignty is threatened.
India's security forces across the nation also observed International Yoga Day, with troops in Eastern Ladakh and the northern frontier participating in yoga sessions. At sea, sailors aboard INS Vikramaditya commenced their day with yoga drills, accompanied by enthusiastic participation from children alongside Navy personnel over aircraft carriers.
