As soon as the proceedings began on Wednesday, the opposition started an uproar in the Lok Sabha demanding the Prime Minister's clarity on Trump's statement of Kashmir mediation. Home Minister Amit Shah responded to the discussion on the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. "You ask, "Why are you enacting stringent laws against terrorism? I say there should be a stringent law against terrorism. Terrorism does not arise from guns. Terrorism arises from the propaganda that spreads the frenzy,"

According to media reports, external affairs minister S Jaishankar in both the Houses on Tuesday on the prime minister's clarity on Trump's statement on Kashmir mediation said there was no such thing between Trump and Prime Minister Modi. US President Donald Trump has told Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan that during the G20 summit in Osaka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to him for mediation on the Kashmir issue. Despite the Defence Minister's reply, several opposition parties, including the Congress, staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha. In the Rajya Sabha, the Opposition has decided that 7 out of 16 bills will be referred to the Joint Election Committee. The Bills include the RTI Amendment Bill, the Triple Divorce Bill and the Unlawfully Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill, 2019.

In a statement in the Lok Sabha shortly ago, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "If we have to talk to Pakistan, it will be not only on Kashmir but also on Pak Occupied Kashmir. "It is a question of our national pride," he added, adding that there was no discussion on the Kashmir issue between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi as per External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's saying. There is no question of mediation in Kashmir as it is against the Shimla Accord," he said.
