GANDHINAGAR:   Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh introduced the "India-Africa Security Fellowship Program" at the DefExpo 2022 in line with the new recommendations of the Gandhinagar Declaration, said the  Defence Ministry  on Wednesday.

The Director General of the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses released a brochure from the Indian Defense Minister during the IADD (MP-IDSA).

In Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on the margins of DefExpo 2022, the India-Africa Defence Dialogue (IADD) was held. Initiation of the programme took place on October 18, 2022.

The Gandhinagar Declaration, which was approved as the IADD II's outcome document, outlined new directions for developing the defence and security cooperation between India and Africa. The Fellowship Program will be held at MP-IDSA, an IADD knowledge partner.

"African researchers will have the chance to do research on defence and security problems in India thanks to the fellowship. For a period of one to three months, the fellows would be associated with the MP-IDSA. The scholar would also get a stipend, "said the official press release.

DefExpo 2022, India's "largest ever" defence show, got underway in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on October 18, with the intention of boosting the defence industry. The event, with the theme "Path to Pride," is in its 12th year.

Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, said that one of the main forces behind the country's determination to achieve "Make in India, Make for the World" is the growing prowess of the domestic defence industry. He was speaking at the DefExpo 2022 curtain-raiser press conference in Gandhinagar on Monday.

In order to achieve the overall goal of meeting domestic requirements while also meeting the needs of friendly foreign countries, Singh said that the biennial exhibition had been organised to support, showcase, and create partnerships for the Indian aerospace and defence manufacturing sectors with both Indian and international customers.

The solely Indian-company-focused DefExpo 2022 was described by the defence minister as a "pillar of the Swadeshi movement" and a "humble tribute" to Mahatma Gandhi.
