Rajnath Singh speaking ahead of International Yoga Day: Says Yoga is India's heritage

NEW DELHI: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took part in a countdown event for International Yoga Day 2022 in Delhi on Thursday.

Rajnath Singh, speaking at the event, stated, "Yoga is one of the country's most important cultural legacies. Yoga infuses our lives with new vitality and excitement."

The Ministry is promoting the 8th edition of International Day of Yoga (IDY2022) through numerous programmes in order to spread the message of Yoga to a wider audience around the world.

Ajay Bhatt, Union Minister of State for Defence, was also present at the ceremony.

On March 13, a curtain raiser ceremony was held to commemorate the 100-day countdown to IDY2022, while a 75-day countdown event was held in the Red Fort in Delhi. 

In Hyderabad, the 25-day countdown to IDY2022 will be commemorated. Every year on June 21, the International Day of Yoga is observed all around the world.  This year, as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,' the Yoga Utsav is being celebrated across 75 historical cultural locations to give a boost to the brand India.
