Assam election: Rajnath Singh will start campaigning from tomorrow, will address 4 rallies

New Delhi: Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will start campaigning in Assam for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Sunday. Sources have given information about the minister to address four rallies in Biswanath and Golaghat districts. Rajnath Singh will have two of these rallies in tea gardens in Gohpur. Gohpur is a historical place, which is associated with Quit India Movement.

Sources said that Rajnath Singh will address a rally at Sadru Tea Estate under Biswanath constituency and another rally at Deflaghur Tea Estate. BJP candidate Promod Borthakur is contesting from this region. Singh's third rally will be held in Gohpur for BJP candidate Utpal Bora, who is contesting against Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President and Rajya Sabha member Ripun Bora. Rajnath Singh will address a rally at Dergaon in the Golaghat district, where he will campaign for BJP's ally, AGP candidate Bhabendra Nath Bharali in Assam.

Rajnath Singh is expected to address a large number of rallies during his several visits to the state in the next month. Voting for 126 seats of the Assam Legislative Assembly will be held in three phases on March 27, April 1, and April 6.
