In a unique celebration of Dussehra, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to join Army personnel at a forward base situated in the pristine region of Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. According to sources within the security apparatus, Singh will also partake in the ritualistic "Shastra Puja," or the worship of weaponry.

The Defence Minister's decision to mark Dussehra with the soldiers at this strategically vital location, which lies in proximity to the Line of Actual Control (LAC), carries added significance as India and China have been embroiled in a prolonged and acrimonious standoff in select friction points within eastern Ladakh for a period exceeding three years.

Additionally, Rajnath Singh will undertake a comprehensive assessment of the ground situation along the LAC in the Arunachal Pradesh sector. He is expected to pay visits to various forward positions within the region.

It is worth noting that Singh has consistently observed "Shastra Puja" on Dussehra over several years, even during his tenure as the Union Home Minister in the previous BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

The protracted standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in specific friction points within eastern Ladakh persists, despite both sides having executed disengagement efforts in several areas following extensive diplomatic and military dialogues.

India's firm stance remains that normalized relations with China hinge on achieving peace in the border regions. In response to this, the Indian Army has significantly reinforced the deployment of troops and armaments along the expansive 3,500-kilometer-long LAC, encompassing sectors such as Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, in response to the enduring standoff in eastern Ladakh.
