The Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die on Thursday, a day before the Budget Session was set to expire.

The Lok Sabha was also adjourned sine die as soon as the House met for the day. Because of the uproar raised by Shiv Sena and other opposition MPs, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu was unable to read out his customary closing statements, which summarise the business conducted in the House during the session.

While Shiv Sena MPs attempted to bring up an FIR filed against BJP's Kirit Somaiya for allegedly syphoning off Rs 100 crore raised as donations for the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, TMC leader Derek O'Brien said no discussion on price hikes was permitted throughout the session. Members of Congress backed the Shiv Sena, stating that if the price hike issue couldn't be discussed, at least the alleged "scam" should be discussed. Naidu said he had given permission for the topic to be raised and asked that the MPs not disrupt the proceedings. He adjourned the hearings sine die because opposition MPs were unyielding.
