NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha witnessed uproarious scenes on Thursday, March 16,  soon after the house met for the day, with the proceedings adjourned till 2 PM.

Trinamool Congress parliament members were in the well of the House even before the beginning of the proceedings and raised slogans shouting they are not being allowed to speak. Rajya Sabha witnessed uproarious scenes today soon after it met for the day, with the proceedings adjourned till 2 PM.

The MPs were persuaded to take their seats by the chairman, Jagdeep Dhankhar, but the Treasury benches shouted for Rahul Gandhi to apologise for his views about democracy he made while travelling abroad.

By raising a commotion, opposition members caused the chair to adjourn the House two minutes into the meeting.

Due to opposition protests, the Rajya Sabha has been unable to do any business since it convened for the second leg of the Budget session on Monday. The BJP has been accused by the opposition MPs of causing chaos in the House and preventing it from working.

Today is the fourth day of the second leg of the Budget session of Parliament. On Wednesday, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha faced disruptions for the third successive day with Congress and other opposition parties insisting on their demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani-Hindenburg row while the BJP members seeking an apology from Rahul Gandhi over his remarks made in London.
