New Delhi:: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Birthday celebrations, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya today September 17, participated in a blood donation camp organised in New Delhi, as part of the nationwide Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav.

The Union Health Ministry launched a massive blood donation campaign from September 17 to October 1, which is marked as National Voluntary Blood Donation Day, as part of Prime Minister Modi's 72nd birthday.

The E-Rakt Kosh portal, which the Health Ministry also launched, will begin accepting registrations for blood donations on September 17. The Arogya Setu App offers the donors the option to register themselves as well.

Mandaviya took to Twitter and said, "Blood donation is a great donation! Donated blood under Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav starting from today on the birthday of Prime Minister NarendraModi.  Being a part of the RaktdaanAmritMahotsav is inspiring. Come contribute to this great job as well."

India has the capacity to keep the blood units, a representative said. India is predicted to set a record, but it will rely on donations. An official source stated on Wednesday that "we are trying to inspire contributors and develop a database so that they may make recurring donations."

The aim of the campaign's launch is to raise public awareness of the importance of routine non-compensated voluntary blood opportunities for social mobilization and social cohesiveness for the noble cause of blood donation. 
On the day of the Prime Minister's birthday, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw participated in the "Swachhata Pakhwada" at Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned 72 years on Saturday, has a tight schedule for the day as various events have been organised, which include the releasing cheetahs in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park to delivering key speeches at four events.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has plans to make PM Modi's birthday significant at the same time. The party will launch a "Seva and Samarpan" campaign that will last 21 days. An exhibition celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's life and leadership will be opened by BJP national president JP Nadda at the party's headquarters in New Delhi. Other states will also have such exhibitions. 

Arun Singh, the general secretary of the BJP and a member of parliament, announced that the party would hold a "Seva Pakhwada" in honour of the Prime Minister on his birthday. "There will be three categories for the celebration. First, sewa, which includes clinics, blood donation centres, and other facilities for immunizations. Our employees will staff booths in these camps to assist individuals in receiving their booster dose and undergoing health examinations " he said. 

"This will also contain PM Modi's goal of having a TB-free India by 2025. Our executives and staff members will adopt a patient for a year and maintain regular contact with them to assess their needs, "Singh said. The party will also carry out a cleanliness drive on the occasion along with planting trees. 

"There will be a drive for cleanliness. There will be several cleanliness programmes because PM Modi consistently focus on cleanliness. Additionally, as peepal trees are a major source of oxygen, we will plant 10 lakh of them at our booths," he added.
