Guwahati : On Friday, President Ram Nath Kovind and First Lady Savita Kovind visited a shrine atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati to pray to Goddess Maa Kamakhya Devi. President Ram Nath Kovind performed puja at the shrine and sought Goddess Kamakhya's blessings.

The President was accompanied by Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, and state Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, who spent about 45 minutes at the temple. On Friday at around 5:30 p.m., President Ram Nath Kovind will kick off a year-long commemoration of Ahom General Lachit Borphukan's 400th birthday at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

At the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the President of India. President Ram Nath Kovind will visit Tezpur tomorrow as part of his three-day visit to the state, where he will attend the Central University of Tezpur's convocation.

He'll also pay a visit to the Kaziranga National Park, where he'll go on a jeep safari and an elephant safari.
