Rama Navami is a spring Hindu festival that marks the birthday of god Rama. He is especially important to the Vaishnavism ritual of Hinduism, as the seventh avatar of 'Vishnu Rama'. The divinity was born on Shukla Paksha Navami of Chaitra month, according to the Hindu calenderer. The descent of god Vishnu took birth as Rama avatar, son of King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya.
Lord Rama was born during Madhyahna period which is acknowledged as the afternoon time. The day is marked by Rama Katha recitals or reading of Rama stories. Ramayana and Mahabharat are recognized mythological stories by Indian traditions.

Hindu manuscripts say that by performing Rama Navami puja during six Ghatis (approximately 2 hours and 24 minutes) brings out the highest successfulness and peace for the devotee. Many people believe that by fasting during eight prahar further enhances the outcome. Devotees should observe the fast from sunrise to sunrise.
