MISSISSAUGA : A Hindu temple has been vandalised with anti-India graffiti in Canada's Mississauga on February 14.

The Indian Consulate General in Toronto denounced the incidnet that happened at the Ram Mandir in Canada and urged the authorities to look into it and act swiftly to punish those responsible.

The Indian Consulate General in Toronto issued the following statement on Twitter: "We vehemently condemn the vandalism of the Ram Mandir in Mississauga with anti-India graffiti. We have asked the Canadian government to look into the situation and punish those responsible right away.

Notably, this is not the first time in Canada that anti-India graffiti has been written on a Hindu temple. Indians in Canada's Brampton were outraged in January after a Hindu temple there was vandalised.

As per reports, the Indian Consulate General in Toronto strongly denounced the damage at the Gauri Shankar Mandir and said that it had profoundly hurt the feelings of the Indian community in Canada.

"We vehemently condemn the anti-India graffiti that was written on the Gauri Shankar Mandir in Brampton, a monument of Indian heritage. The Indian community in Canada has been severely wounded by the vile act of vandalism. We have voiced our worries to Canadian authorities about the situation," the consular office declared in a formal statement.

The event is being investigated by the Canadian authorities, and Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown has denounced the damage. "Our City and Country have no place for this vile act of destruction. I have spoken with Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah about his concerns over this hate crime. Everyone has a right to experience security in their place of worship.

BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Canada was vandalised with anti-Indian graffiti last September by "Canadian Khalistani radicals." In July 2022, vandals vandalised a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Vishnu Mandir in Richmond Hill, in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
