New Delhi: Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said that the government should bring an ordinance to rectify the recent decision of the Supreme Court on reservation for SC-ST community in jobs. At the same time, to keep away from judicial review, all such issues should be included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. The Union Minister said that the government is considering filing a review petition against the decision of the apex court and is taking legal opinion on it.

After issuing the ordinance, the constitution amendment is the easy way: for your information let us tell you that Paswan said, 'Review petition will be filed, but the issue will again go to court. It is also being said that it should be seen whether it will be successful or not, so I think the easiest way is to amend the constitution after issuing the ordinance. The leader of the Lok Janshakti Party made this comment in the context of the political storm born after the recent decision of the Supreme Court. The court has arranged that states are not obliged to provide reservation to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in appointments. But claiming quota is not a basic right in promotions.

The decision is against the interests of SC and ST: According to the information, Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Paswan said, 'The Supreme Court says that reservation in jobs is dependent on the state government and it is not a basic right. At the same time, it has been learned that people's objection is that it is against the interests of SC and ST. Paswan accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of doing politics on the issue.
