The holy month of Ramadaan is marked as the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is believed that the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to prophet Mohammad on this day.

People fast for almost 29 to 30 days resulting in the day of celebration known as eid.every believer have to abstain themselves from any sexual or intimate relation during daytime or anything that seems to be tempting and appealing.

One of the Five pillars of Islam that really needs to be followed up in order to be a true believer. Apart from fasting Muslims also have to present charity to the less privileged people by helping them with money and material. It is a practice of self-reliant as if orders to abstain yourself from places that are sinful and to get yourself away from people who gossip and do bad things.

The eating sessions happen in sehri as well as iftyaari where family and friends gather to have the meal, offer salat and read the holy verses of Quran.

Salty food is avoided to reduce thirst during the day.

Community gathering also helps to provide free meals during sunrise as well as sunset for poor families. The end of the month is celebrated with Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the end of fasting.
