At the same time, Shyam Sundar was fighting cancer for a long time. At the same time, the problem remains that due to the lockdown Shyam Sundar's bones are not able to flow in the Ganges. With this, the family of Shyam Sundar, who has said goodbye to the world during the lockdown, is now waiting for the lockdown to open so that his ashes can be immersed in the Ganges. He was living in the Housing Board Colony of Kalka for the past 20 years. With this, the family of Shyam Sundar says that he was reciting Ramcharitmanas when his life went out.

Shyam's wife Priya Kalani was an officer in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and after his retirement he started living in Kalka city of Panchkula. Along with this, Shyam Sundar Kalani played the role of Jai Hanuman main Hanuman in addition to films like Trimurti, Chaila Babu and Heer Ranjha in addition to Ramayana. Prem Sagar, the producer of the Ramayana serial, had told in the interview that he had selected all the actors of the Ramayana, but he needed a good deal-making artist to play the role of Sugriva as per his choice. When he became more upset, he remembered Lord Ram in his mind and the next day Shyamsunder Kalani reached his set. At the same time, Shyamsunder Kalani was cast for the role of Sugriva. While condoling the death of Shyam Sundar, Arun Govil wrote, "Sad to hear about the demise of Shyam Sundar ji. Along with this, he played the role of Sugriva in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana. A wonderful person and a gentleman.
