This Diwali two Big Budget movies Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn’s Thank God released. Although the movies did not perform well at Box office but grabbed controversy. Ram Setu' grossed a little over Rs 55 crore nett over its six days at the box office. In the movie Akshay Kumar is playing the role of researcher Aaryan in the film.

A Historian named Ashok Kumar Kaint is reportedly threatening legal action against the makers of 'Ram Setu'. According to reports, the Punjabi, who heads the department of Ramayan Research Committee in Sri  Lanka, alleged that his research work and life story have been used in the film without his permission. He further said that his research work was used in the film without his consent.

In an interview Ashok Kumar said, "But things have been fabricated in the movie which should not have been done," said the historian, adding that this would also be a case here of copyright infringement. Ashok also added that the movie would have been much better if the filmmakers had approached him with their story.

He concluded this and added, “Movie would have been much better if the filmmakers had come to him to discuss the several things because I have done everything on the ground.” 

Ram Setu is directed by Abhishek Sharma and co-produced by his company Cape of Good Films along with Amazon Prime Video, Abundantia Entertainment, and Lyca Productions. The film has been in the making for quite a few years.
