Davis cup: Ramkumar, Pranjesh suffer defeat as Serbia lead India 2-0

Indian tennis player Ramkumar Ramanathan and Prajnesh Gunneswaran got defeated in their matches which helped Serbia in getting lead of 2-0 over India on Friday.

Ramkumar gave a tough competition but it efforts proved insufficient to beat the Laslo Djere and to stop him from winning his first Davis Cup match. In this interesting and intense three hour 11 minute long game, he lost 6-3 4-6 6-7(2) 2-6 on the indoor clay courts at Kraljevo Sports Venue.

135 ranked Ramkumar has shown a good game against 86 ranked Serbian player. There was pressure on the both ramkumar and Djere but atleast Djere succeded in defeating the Indian player. Serbian player had lost both his Davis Cup matches before clashing with Ramkumar so it was important for the player to show his best to kiss the victory.

In another match Prajnesh lost the match  4-6 3-6 4-6 to number 56 Dusan Lajovic in one hour and 57 minutes long game. Pranjesh got many opportunities but he failed to get benefit from them. He had nine break points but converted only two and handovered victory to Lajovic.

Now Indian fans have hope from Rohan Bopanna and N. Sriram Balaji and they must defeat Nikola Milojevic and Danilo Petrovic in the doubles rubber for the tie to stay alive on Saturday.
