Ranchi: Recently, 75-year-old Kariman Ansari, a resident of Makri Chakla Tola of Bhawanathpur police station area of Garhwa district of Jharkhand, could not get two yards of land in the cemetery. When it was investigated, it was found that some people of the Muslim society are refusing to bury his dead body there. His crime was that he used to go to temples while alive, used to work as an exorcist. Some people of the society called it anti-Islam.

On receiving information about the demise, all relatives came to Makri and were digging graves in the cemetery to bury him. The dead secretaries of Muslim society, Maqbool Ansari and Imam Zakir Hussain, were stopped from burial in the cemetery. Kariman Ansari did anti-religion work while alive. While working as an exorcist, he used to go to temples too. Therefore, no person from the Muslim community will be included in his funeral nor will there be a place for burial in the cemetery. Where relatives have made a lot of request for burial in the cemetery, but people have not accepted. Eventually, the body was buried on his land.

On this matter, the relatives told that no one, except his close friend, supported the funeral. On being asked, the Sadar Secretary has denied the allegations being made against him, expressing ignorance of the whole matter. But Imam Zakir Hussain said that Kariman had done anti-Islam work in his life. His work was not forgivable. This prevented his body from being buried in the cemetery.
